The Clarke’s wanted a theatre area complete with a fireplace, gym, washroom and a bar area along with some storage. They had a reasonable budget and I believe that AGGroup was able to meet all their requests and stay within the assigned budget. They did go over their initial budget with their additional purchases. Whitby Audio installed the theatre set up. The original idea was for a gas fireplace to be installed below the T.V. but over the course of the project the Clarke’s decided on an electric fireplace. They had seen pictures on my web site (O’Neil) of a previous basement I had completed where the owners had placed cabinets on each side of the fireplace. They purchased some “white chocolate” cabinets from Lowes and I installed them.
They wanted a bar area so I suggested getting a couple of matching cabinets and I left a space for a bar fridge. To manage costs it was decided that a single French door would replace the double doors that were planned for the entrance. The gym area is open and has ample space for their gym equipment.
There is a two piece washroom opposite the gym. The Clarke’s also decided on LED pot lights to save energy use as well as having more lighting with less pot lights. The lighting is awesome and alleviates any shadows unlike normal incandescent bulbs. The only downside was that the LED pot light frequency interfered with the garage door opener frequency even though they were not on the same circuits. It is my understanding that different antennae will solve this problem.
