This photo shows the plaster removed with a view to the kitchen. The interesting part was that the common dining room/ kitchen wall intersected with the support wall being removed. A special heavy duty steel brace was ordered and installed to hold the new laminated beams. A new beam was also put in the basement to support this remodel. As part of this renovation I had cut out the dining room wall and opened up a window sized pass through area to the kitchen. This allowed more light in to the dining room.
